New Press Conference From University of Alberta

Astrocytoma brain tumor begins in star-shaped brain cells called astrocytes. It does not usually spread outside the brain and spinal cord or affect other organs. Astrocytoma brain tumors are also known as glioblastomas. People can develop an astrocytoma brain tumor at any age. There is a 4 tiered grading system with 1 being the least aggressive and, therefore, having the best survival rates. As the grade of the astrocytoma brain tumor increases, the treatment options and prognosis worsen.

Unfortunately, there is no known cause of an astrocytoma brain tumor, so prevention is not an option.

Astrocytoma brain tumor treatment includes surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, radiosurgery and/or an intense drug regiment depending on the age of the patient, the patient’s overall health, the patient’s functional abilities, and the location, seriousness, and type of the specific astrocytoma brain tumor.

A new compound, DCA (sodium dichloroacetate), offers hope to those suffering from an astrocytoma brain tumor or other cancers.

DCA is also known as NaDCA, Sodium Dichloroacetate, and Dichloroacetate. It is a small, simple molecule that the body can easily absorb and its small size enables it to cross the blood-brain barrier and reach the astrocytoma brain tumor when other conventional drugs have not been able to.

DCA has been used for more than 20 years in the treatment of lactic acidosis. DCA is odorless, non-toxic, and has been proven to be safe in both healthy and sick people. As in cases of lactic acidosis, the cells of an astrocytoma brain tumor have an impaired mitochondria. When the mitochondria is reactivated using a DCA solution (pure DCA powder in water), the tumor mass shrunk up to 70% in just 3 weeks. This was proven at the University of Alberta (UA) in Canada in 2007 by a research team led by Dr. Evangelos Michelakis.

Dichloroacetate (DCA) cannot be patented because it is a small and simple compound. Because DCA cannot be patented, drug companies are not interested in doing clinical trials – Simply put, there is no money in it for them! DCA is readily available and inexpensive. However, due to the protectionist design of governing bodies, without extensive clinical trials, the government cannot sanction the use of DCA. So, a potential life-saving compound exists but patients and the populace at large are not educated on this compound.

Dr. Michelakis has been supported by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, the Canada Foundation of Innovation, the Canada Research Chairs program, the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research and other private sources.

DCA (dichloroacetate) has been used over a period of 1 year to treat 180 patients with cancer, who mostly exhausted all other methods of treatment. 52% of the patients were male and 48% were female. The patients were from 2 years to 90 years old, with the largest group of 56% ranging from 50 to 69 years of age. The forms of cancer ranging from lung (40 patients), astrocytoma brain tumor (26), colon (25), breast (15) to pelvis (1), spine (1) and thyroid (1) cancers, to name just a few.

To view details of the study, the news releases at the time, or learn more about this revolutionary brain tumor treatment use for DCA go to http://www.puredca.com. There are 3 news report from Global News, CTV News, and the Real Story. These reports explain the medical findings as well as explain why it has not yet, at the time of this writing, become a regular treatment for astrocytoma brain tumor sufferers.

The prognosis for a Glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor is not good but I am writing to offer you hope. Wikipedia quotes Glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor as “the most common and most aggressive type of primary brain tumor in humans, involving glial cells and accounting for 52% of all parenchymal brain tumor cases and 20% of all intracranial tumors…. treatments involve chemotherapy, radiation, radiosurgery, corticosteroids, antiangiogenic therapy, and surgery… Glioblastoma has a very poor prognosis, despite multimodality treatment consisting of open craniotomy with surgical resection of as much of the tumor as possible, followed by concurrent or sequential chemoradiotherapy, antiangiogenic therapy with bevacizumab, gamma knife radiosurgery, and symptomatic care with corticosteroids.” The patient’s doctor and oncology team has probably relayed the same information.

Treatment of a Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumor is very difficult due to several complicating factors including:

tumor cells are very resistant to other conventional therapies

patient is susceptible to brain damage with conventional therapy (surgery is extremely invasive)

the brain has a very limited capacity to repair itself (neurological cells are designed to live a long time and not designed to regenerate as many other cells in our body were – so the brain does not readily “heal itself”)

many drugs cannot cross the blood-brain barrier to act on the tumor

HOPE for those with Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumor and other cancers!!

Medical scientists and researchers have known since 2007 that the damage to the mitochondria in Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumors and other cancerous growths can be reactivated. Once the mitochondria is reactivated, the Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumor (transplanted into rats and treated for 3 weeks) shrank by 70%. The results were better than the research team, lead by Dr. Michelakis, were hoping for. This landmark medical discovery was discovered at the University of Alberta (UA) in Canada. In January of 2007, a reputable periodical “Cancer Cell” published the results of the study conducted by the Canadian researchers.

You would think that the cure or treatment of Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumor and other cancers would be widely received. Although happily received by the populace (see videos by Global News, CTV News, and the Real Story on sodium dichloroacetate visit puredca.com, it was not received well by the pharmeuceutical companies and governments because there is no money in it!!!

The reasearchers proved that deadly Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumor and other cancers can be treated – orally (by the mouth) by a simple molecule called DCA. DCA is also known as NaDCA, Dichloroacetate, and Sodium Dichloroacetate. The private pharmaceutical concerns are not interested in conducting clinical trials because DCA is a simple molecule and, therefore, cannot be patented. If it cannot bring profit to a given company they will not fund more research.

It is important to note, DCA has already been tested on both healthy and sick patients.

DCA, Sodium Dichloroacetate was found to be:

non-toxic

odorless

a simple molecule

a small molecule, allowing easy absorbion

a small enough molecular size to allows it to cross the blood-brain barrier

successfully used in treatment of inborn defects connected with metabolism

used for more than 20 years on patients with lactic acidosis to reactivate their cellular mitochondria

inexpensive

readily available

If you or a loved one has a Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumor, you can buy DCA , it is available without a prescription.

If you are familiar with the Signs of a Stroke, you will find many of the signs and symptoms are the same as Brain Cancer Symptoms. Both ailments are caused from a blockage and/or improper functioning of the brain and brain activity. Be alert to changes in behavior, moods, mental stability as well as the visible physical characteristics.

To control Brain Cancer Symptoms, I recommend using a little known product called DCA. It is also known as NaDCA, Sodium Dichloroacetate, and Dichloroacetate. Researchers at the University of Alberta in Canada have been very successful in controlling brain cancer symptoms and, even shrinking tumors by up to 70% since 2007.

For more information on this Medical Research, the University of Alberta’s findings, subsequent studies, and/or sodium dichloroacetate (DCA) itself, please visit www.puredca.com. This website also has 3 news feeds from YouTube. These are videos from CTV, Global, and The Real Story which aired in 2007 when this all important medical finding was first broadcast.

Recognize that DCA is not a drug – so does not require a prescription. Therein lies a huge problem for sufferers of brain cancer symptoms. There is no money to educate or advance DCA development because DCA is a simple, small molecule that cannot be patented. However, DCA has been safely and successfully used in the medical community for decades – treating inborn defects connected with metabolism. If anyone in your life needs to reduce their brain cancer symptoms and hopefully shrink their tumor by 70% and/or prevent it from coming back – this may be your best bet!

Brain Cancer Treatment includes surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and/or radiosurgery depending on what the oncology team and patient decide. The factors being considered are patient’s age, location, type, and severity or stage of the tumor, whether it is a primary tumor or brain metastases. Each brain cancer treatment is followed up by an intensive drug program to control possible complications from the surgery like bleeding, swelling, infection, and neurological damage. The current brain cancer treatment is very invasive and prognosis improves only when 90% or more of the tumor is removed. I want to introduce the reader to DCA as a potential brain cancer treatment option.

This little known brain cancer treatment involves DCA or Sodium Dichloroacetate. It is also known as NaDCA and Dichloroacetate. Quite bluntly, it is NOT widely used because there is no money in it for the profit-motivated pharmaceutical companies. As a result, clinical trials don’t get done and this potentially life saving brain cancer treatment does not get ratified by the governments and is not widely available to those that need brain cancer treatment. However, this simple, odorless, colorless, inexpensive, non-toxic, small molecule has been used for more than 2 decades to safely treat lactic acidosis by reactivating the mitochondria. For 80 years, science has known that it is the mitochondria that “breaks” causing cancer cells to grow and proliferate… why wouldn’t you try oral DCA and reactivate the mitochondria as a brain cancer treatment option?

In 2007, research scientists at the University of Alberta (UA), Canada transplanted tumor cells (brain, breast and lung) into rats. For 3 weeks they gave them DCA diluted in water. After 3 weeks receiving this (brain) cancer treatment, it turned out the progress of the disease was stopped in both cases of in vivo and in vitro. Mitochondria were re-activated and “it suggested that they were not damaged as it was previously believed. The mitochondria in tumor cells are NOT irreversibly destroyed, only inactive temporarily. As the mitochondria reactivated, the cells gain a new property” – a possibility of apoptosis, which was blocked earlier. Because of this, the tumors shrank. After 3 weeks their mass decreased by 70%. It is also important to note that the DCA Solution (pure DCA in water) only worked against the cancer cells, leaving the healthy cells intact – making this a superior brain cancer treatment as existing therapies like chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery severely damage the healthy cells around the tumor.

According to Dr. Michelakis, the head scientist in the Universtity of Alberta study, this may happen because DCA targets a process, which may only be observed in cancer cells. He stressed the fact that Dichloroacetate (DCA) may be used as a treatment for several forms of cancer.

Dr. Dario Altieri, the director of the Cancer Center at the University of Massachusetts Medical School believes this research shows that we may gain control over the tumors, stop their progress, destroy them, and/or make them more vulnerable with other forms of therapy. DCA offers a unique opportunity in brain cancer treatment, as the blood-brain barrier prevents many existing therapies from getting through to the tumor mass. The small size of the molecule allows it to easily be absorbed by the body and enables transport across the blood-brain barrier to reach affected brain cells.

For more information on the research, subsequent studies, and DCA itself visit http://www.puredca.com. It is my strong belief that DCA is a viable brain cancer treatment… especially considering the options.
